Chicken Paprikash - Creamy, Flavorful, and Ready in 30 Minutes!
The other day, while making meatballs for my sons..
As you can see from the title, this recipe contains a lot of paprika, both smoked and sweet. This is a Hungarian dish, and if you've been to Budapest you may have noticed that dried peppers are sold everywhere. The other day, while making meatballs for my sons, I wanted to add a bit of smokiness to the flavor but accidentally dropped half the bag of smoked paprika. Even after scooping it out of the mince mix, the smoked paprika flavor was still very present and the boys were quite surprised – these weren't their usual meatballs. It seemed as if the spice was literally begging to be given more space in my cooking... So I decided to give it a go and make a dish where paprika is the main ingredient. But please stick to the amounts I've listed below – like any spice...well, like everything in life - it should be in balance.
Ingredients:
1.5 pounds (700g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs
Salt, Black pepper
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 large yellow onion
2 tbsp Olive oil
4 tbsp butter
1 tsp garlic powder
3 tsp smoked paprika
3 tsp sweet paprika
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
3 tbsp tomato paste
2 cups (480ml) beef stock
2 tbsp sour cream
Kitchen utensils: large frying pan, spatula, chopping board and knife.
